Frozen: Early snow leaves farmers in northern Armenia counting their losses

In what the meteorological service described as a weather event brought in by “the influence of northwestern cold currents” farmers in Armenia’s northern provinces suffered considerable agricultural damage at the beginning of this week seeing their crops covered with early snow.
Unusual at this time of the year even for these upland areas of the country, the spell of cold weather in Aragatsotn, Shirak and Lori began on Monday night, with temperatures dropping to or below zero and snowfalls registered for the first time [in September] in more than four decades.
